Monte Isola by bike

Monte Isola is the jewel of Lake Iseo: the largest inhabited lake island in Europe, car-free, with a scenic 9 km loop past fishing villages, olive groves and lake views. Perfect to explore by bike — but there is one important thing to know before you go.

The rule: in high season you rent on the island

To manage the high number of visitors, in high season you cannot bring your own bike or a bike rented elsewhere onto Monte Isola: on the island you ride with the local rental shops based there. So, in full transparency: ORME does not deliver bikes to Monte Isola — you reach the island by ferry on foot and rent right on arrival.

How to get to Monte Isola

The easiest way is the ferry from Sulzano to Peschiera Maraglio: frequent crossings all day, just a few minutes on the water. On arrival you'll find the local rental points and the loop that circles the whole island: a full lap takes about an hour of easy riding, with recommended stops at the Madonna della Ceriola sanctuary and the villages.

What we can do for you

On the rest of the lake it's a different story: we deliver e-bikes and bicycles to your accommodation in Iseo, Sulzano, Sarnico, Pisogne and Franciacorta. A combination that works well: e-bike morning on the Vello–Toline lakeside path or among the Franciacorta vineyards, then the ferry to Monte Isola in the afternoon. Message us on WhatsApp and we'll plan your day together.

Frequently asked
questions

Can I take a bike on the ferry to Monte Isola?+
In high season, not if it was rented off the island: the rules to manage visitor numbers require using the island's local rentals. Better to arrive on foot and rent on the spot.
Where can I rent a bike on Monte Isola?+
At the ferry landing in Peschiera Maraglio you'll find the island's local rental points, open in season.
Does ORME deliver bikes to Monte Isola?+
No: out of respect for the island's rules we don't deliver to Monte Isola. We deliver everywhere else on Lake Iseo and in Franciacorta — and we're happy to help you combine both experiences in one day.
